highlightNatural hair lightener sprayAs a therapist with an interest in natural and holistic therapies and having also trained and worked in the beauty industry, natural products are something I'm passionate about. This became particularly the case in 2012 after having undergone brain surgery. As my hair grew back with the few odd grey hairs, I decided to colour my hair to a dark brown from a light brown colour. With having very little money to spend, I did this by using the box colours you buy from stores.
Overall I was happy with the results and the colour. But overtime, my lighter brown roots and the need to repeat the process so frequently was creating a loss of appeal. Walking to the till with yet another box of hair colour, I looked at the ingredients wondering how all this colouring might have been affecting my scalp and scar. I realised the words were all gobbeldy goop and couldn't be sure how they might affect my scarring. At this point I looked into alternatives, and finally decided to remove all the existing colour from my hair. Having done that and looking at the severity of the grey hair (which really only extended to several grey hairs) I contemplated using natural products to lighten my hair so as to allow myself to go grey naturally without the constant dark dye.
Here are the recipes for homemade products I use to bring out natural highlights in my hair:
Natural hair lightening conditioner
Natural hair lightener spray
Natural highlight rinse for blonde hair
