Elderflowers have a mild bleaching property and has cleansing properties. This cleansing milk will remove daily dirt and grime, however is not suitable for the removal of make-up. Instead try a cleansing cream such as this natural, simple cleansing cream.
225ml (7 fl oz) buttermilk
4 tbsp dried elderflowers
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp honey
8 drops or 1/2 tsp tincture of myrrh
1/ put the buttermilk, elderflowers and thyme in a basin over a pan of simmering water.
2/ Heat for 30 minutes until the milk separates into curds and whey.
3/ Remove the basin from the heat, stir and cover with muslin cloth and leave for 2 hours.
4/ Re-heat the mixture over simmering water, remove from heat and strain into a second basin.
5/ Stir in the honey and tincture of myrrh.
6/ The mixture will be green-brown.
7/ Pour into a clean bottle with a lid/cork.
